In the second quarter of 2022, the top five social apps in Ghana demonstrated varying trends across downloads, revenue, and active users. The data, sourced from Sensor Tower, provides a comprehensive insight into the performance of these apps on a unified platform, which includes both iOS and Android users.

TikTok, published by TikTok Pte. Ltd., saw a significant fluctuation in weekly downloads, peaking at approximately 468.8K in mid-May and then declining to around 290K by the end of June. Weekly revenue remained relatively steady, averaging around $4.2K, with a peak of $4.7K in early May. Active users also showed an upward trend, starting at 3.3M in late March and rising to about 3.8M by the end of June.

Facebook Lite, from Meta Platforms, Inc., experienced a steady increase in active users, beginning at 7.4M in early April and reaching approximately 8M by early June. Weekly downloads fluctuated, with a peak of 187.3K in early May and a slight decline to around 111K by the end of June. Revenue remained relatively stable around the $170 mark, with minor variations.

MORE+: Where Ordinary Shines, a new entrant from Transsnet More, saw a rapid increase in weekly downloads, starting from zero in late May to nearly 297K by the end of June. Active users followed a similar trend, growing from 47 in late May to approximately 317.4K by the end of June.

Instagram, published by Instagram, maintained a consistent download rate, ranging from 42K to 63K weekly. Revenue showed minor fluctuations, averaging around $20 per week, with a peak of $31 in early June. Active users remained stable, averaging around 3.2M throughout the quarter.
